Helping others....one at a time part 2

I just read this quote today and i thought i went along very nicely with my previous post. "No one can help everyone, but everyone can do something."

Think about the story of the clams(whatever they are called;) on the beach. The person who found them could have said, "well i cant help them all" and then left. Or he could have done all he could and called others to help him. Either none get saved, or practically all get saved. Which would you chose its pretty obvious isn't it?

Its the same way with orphans. We can just forget about it, using the excuse that we cant save them all, which is true. But, if everyone decides too help one, then a lot more would be rescued than if no one did anything. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR NOT CARING FOR THE LEAST OF THESE.

We cant stand before the throne of God one day and say, " well i didn't help that poor, miserable boy living with no shelter, food, or family because i knew i couldn't help everyone." We all need to play our part in serving the least of these.

Help others....one at a time

So many times i believe we will feel overwhelmed with all the orphans in the world. "How can we help and save them all" we catch ourselves thinking. The answer is by helping ONE.AT.A.TIME. just helping ONE can make such a difference. INSTEAD OF THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOU CANT DO, THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN DO. Just imagine what would happen if everyone helped ONE. I read somewhere that if only 16 percent of those who claimed to be christians adopted ONE child, there would be NO MORE ORPHANS! Just 16%! That means that there are 84% of the others who can assist those who are. Even if we cant adopt or become missionarys, we are still called to care for the least of these. Lets decrease the number of orphan, for it is possible if you help one at a time! To make this dream a reality, start helping ONE by reading this blog post about a family who is trying to fundraise for the adoption of a 14 year girl who weighs only 14 pounds! Believe it or not, the to be family is none other than the person who is fundraising! There are some amazing giveaway items as well including an amazing camera set, multiple kindle fires, the new ipad 3, some custom made bead socks(made by guess who:) a bunch of really cute etsy items and jewelry and MUCH other things.you can enter for this giveaway by donating towards their adoption. MBM--Our Little Princess

This is my very first Memorial Box Monday. MBM was started by Linny on A Place Called Simplicity. It is a day she sets aside to tell about God's faithfulness and the things he has done for her. She then asks all of us followers to share some of our storys of God's faithfulness. May you all be encouraged by this story of his miracles and plans for us...

This story starts last spring when we were searching for a young special needs girl. So far, we hadn't found any little girls. We starting to consider a boy instead.
A while later, we got an email from our agency. They were in china meeting all of their "special focus kids", those usually with major needs who would have a difficult time finding a family if they were on the shared list. Instead, they give those children's files to certain agencies to try to get families for them. They told us about this little girl who was 3 years old. Her "name" was Sophia(not her really name which was actually Liu Jia Jia, but the name given to her by the agency). We looked at some of the photos and immediately emailed back to tell them we were interested. We were amazed that one of the girls there was young and had a minor special need...most of the other kids had major needs. Because my family wasn't able to take a child with special needs such as CP, or something that most of the other kids had, we knew that this girl was for us!

A few days later, after we had emailed back and forth, we got an email that said that they weren't getting some of the files for some of the children they should of got. To make a long story short, if they didn't get the file, china would put her on a shared list, and it would be nearly impossible to get her since everyone is looking for young girls with minor needs.

After a while(and a lot of praying:) we got a call from our agency. Apparently, China let us have Sophia's file! We were so excited! Before, there was a very small chance that we would not get her, but God sure doesn't care about what others think! We later learned that china was about to (and would have) put her on the shared list but didn't. We were told it was because of the agency who was continuously trying to get the file for us, but I know it wasn't just them, it was God!

Several months later, we went to china to take home our little miracle. Today we still praise him for his blessing to us. We thank him for our gift of Hope(her new name:). Here is a picture of our little princess today:

first post

OK...i have decided that i should actually write something on my almost 3 month old blog! I decided i should let you all know the purpose of this blog. You should kind of get an idea by the title, serving the least of these. This is from Matthew 25 which says,

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.  All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.  For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?  When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.  For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

This clearly shows us that God has commanded us to care or 'serve the least of these'. Whenever we serve them, we are serving Jesus.

We as Christians should do everything we can to care for these people. I think in this world, there are many people who do not do what this passage tells us. That is why I started this blog. I wanted to advocate for these orphans and other 'least of these' who have no food, shelter, or family. I wanted to show others the great need out there for orphans.

Being the sister of two children from china, my eyes are opened to this great need. I think so many people will hear of these fatherless boys and girls, and completely forget them the next day. This is an example of what most people will think of when they see this kinds of pictures;
Dear Orphan~
I saw your photo today. You are so adorable!
Your eyes are so deep and full of hope.

I love your little smile.
I know it must be hard some days to find
the strength to smile.
I have heard how little food you have,
but you are still willing to share
with your friends.
What a sweet little person you are!

But, I am writing this letter to tell you that I will
not be able to help you.
You see, my family is happy with the life we
are living.
I know that we could get bunk beds and you could
share a room with one of our bio kids,
but really,
that is no life for either of you.
We have so much going on around here and
life would just be too chaotic.

Our neighbors just got a new TV and game system,
we really think we need to have one too.
I have a 'ladies night out' next week and
I have nothing to wear.
I really need to purchase a new outfit.
I guess I could sponsor you...
but,
it will have to wait til next month,
I really need that new outfit
and my kids are dying for some fast food tonight.

Good luck to you!

I hope that this post doesn't make it sound like I am telling you how bad everyone is and I am perfect. I admit that sometimes I act like the person writing this letter. I find myself only donating because I can be entered to win something big, while other times I catch myself only wanted to donate towards the cute little babies, and looking over the older ones, with more special needs, furthermore, I find myself not even giving because, "i have to get_____first, I've been wanting it for a while."

So, starting today, I will try to post pictures and stories of kids like ones in the pictures above, and give opportunities to give towards the them.

Please join me in "serving the least of these"!
